Lash Extension Aftercare

After getting lash extensions, it is essential to follow a proper aftercare regimen to maintain their beauty and prolong their lifespan. Here is a detailed guide:

First 24 Hours:

  • Avoid getting the lashes wet to allow the adhesive to fully cure.

  • Skip steam rooms, saunas, hot yoga, or any activity that may cause excessive sweating.

Daily Lash Care:

  • Gently brush your lashes with a clean mascara wand to keep them neat and separate.

  • Avoid rubbing or pulling your lashes.

  • Refrain from using oil-based makeup or makeup removers as they can break down the adhesive. Products containing alcohol should also be avoided.

  • Avoid high heat. Heavy steam from stoves, ovens, steam rooms, saunas, as well as direct heat from blow dryers can distort the shape and singe the extensions. Being mindful when cooking, opening ovens or using hair tools to protect your lashes.

Lash Cleaning Routine:

  • Use a specially formulated foaming lash cleanser and a gentle, oil-free/alcohol-free makeup remover to cleanse the lashes and eyelids.

  • Gently massage the foaming cleanser along the lash line with your cleansing brush and rinse thoroughly with water.

  • Pat the lashes dry with a lint-free cloth or let them air dry.

  • Brush through them with a clean mascara wand to separate and fluff. Do not worry if you see lashes shed, it is natural to see a few lashes shed every day. Makeup, debris and natural skin oil can also build up along your lash line if not properly cleaned and affect the durability of the eyelash adhesive.

Sleeping Habits:

  • Try to sleep on your back to avoid pressing your lashes into the pillow, which can cause premature shedding.

  • Consider using a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction on the lashes.

Avoid Certain Activities:

  • Steer clear of waterproof mascara and eyeliner, as they can be difficult to remove and may damage the extensions.

  • Skip using eyelash curlers, as they can break or damage both the extensions and your natural lashes.

Lash Touch-ups and Maintenance:

  • Schedule regular infill appointments every 2-3 weeks to maintain the fullness and shape of your lashes. La Belle Vivienne offers discounted pricing for clients who keep up with their lash infills. Pricing listed online is based on biweekly infills. If more time has passed, additional charges may apply.

  •  Please note La Belle Vivienne does not offer lash extension infills for appointments scheduled beyond 3 weeks since your last visit. If more than 3 weeks have passed, your appointment will be booked as a full set. This policy ensures the quality of your lash extensions and the health of your natural hair.

  • Avoid attempting to remove the extensions yourself; always seek professional help if you want your lash extensions removed.

General Lash Tips:

  • Be gentle with your lashes and treat them with care to avoid premature shedding.

  • Keep your hands clean and avoid touching or rubbing your eyes excessively. Your lashes will provide you with a low-maintenance beauty alternative. The less you mess with them, the longer they will last!

  • Seal the deal with a protective coating sealant 2 times per week to help extend the life of your lashes.

Skin Sensitivity & Allergies:

If you experience any redness, itchiness or swelling for more than 24 hours following your appointment due to skin sensitivity or allergies, La Belle Vivienne has a couple of recommendations. You can apply a thin layer of topical steroid cream along your lid line and ingest an oral antihistamine as directed by the product until symptoms are gone. Sensitive skin products are available during your next lash extension touch-up.
